About Vancouver

Home Away from Home

Vancouver has been voted the most liveable city in the world and in 2014 was Travel and Leisure’s choice for top city to visit in Canada. In 2010, we hosted the world at the Winter Olympics.

The 3rd largest city in Canada, Vancouver offers a beautiful outdoor environment as well as exciting opportunities for enjoying the arts and entertainment. Tourists know they can always count on a friendly welcome here.

Vancouver is an outdoor playground, a shopper’s paradise by day and an exciting place for music, theatre and clubs by night. Choose from over 50 museums and galleries, night spots to suit every musical taste, and festivals, special events, cultural days and concerts all year long.

Outdoors, you can hike, bike, ski, snowboard, sail, climb, swim and paddle – and you can do most of these all year, thanks to Vancouver's uniquely mild climate. Located between the Pacific Ocean and the Coastal Mountain Range, Vancouver has something special for everyone. World-renowned Whistler mountain resort, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics alpine and Nordic events, is just a two-hour drive away.

Vancouver is home to over 70 different cultures, making it one of the most culturally diverse cities in North America. You will have an opportunity to participate in the many festivals and special events honouring the heritage and traditions of these cultures.

If you take the time to get to know Vancouver while you are here, you may find that one of your best teachers is the city itself.
