We are currently hiring instructors for our short programs throughout 2019.
Opportunities for Instructors
UBC's English Language Institute (ELI) is an energetic and supportive working environment where research-based, leading-edge teaching and learning practices prevail in a collegial and collaborative environment. We offer exciting teaching opportunities in a variety of English as an Additional Language (EAL) programs. Teaching positions at the English Language Institute start as casual appointments. Outstanding instructors with a post-graduate degree in TESL may be offered continued contracts which can lead to a permanent position.
Who are we looking for?
You are a dynamic classroom instructor who has been actively teaching EAL to adult or high school students for a minimum of three years locally and/or internationally. Your strong commitment to professional development and contribution to the EAL community is documented through participation in activities such as teacher training, curriculum development and conference presentations. You are a leader who uses contemporary and innovative techniques in your classroom. You hold a post-graduate TESL qualification equivalent to TESL Canada Standard One, and if you are interested in a longer-term position, you also hold a masters degree in TESL.
We hire Canadian citizens, landed immigrants and those who hold valid work permits. UBC hires on the basis of merit and is committed to employment equity. All qualified persons are encouraged to apply. Only those applicants selected for interviews will be contacted.
