Conditional Admission Offer Registration

Welcome to the University of British Columbia’s English Language Institute

Congratulations on your offer of conditional admission to the University of British Columbia (UBC) Vancouver!

As part of this offer, you are required to complete English for Academic Purposes at UBC’s English Language Institute before you can begin your degree program. This program is specifically designed to help students meet UBC’s English language requirement.

You may register in either a 16-week session starting in January, May or September, or an 8-week accelerated session starting in the summer. On receipt of your registration request, we will email you instructions on how to submit your payment information.

Your EAP fees are paid to UBC’s English Language Institute. DO NOT pay your fees into your UBC student account for your degree program.

Policies & Responsibilities

Listed below are the policies you must agree to as an applicant and potential student of UBC ELI. Please read through them thoroughly.
  • I have a basic understanding of English. I understand that my English will be tested when I arrive. If my English level is too low, I may be referred to a different school.
  • I have read and accept all ELI Policies and UBC's Policy on Academic Misconduct.
  • I understand it is my responsibility to meet Canadian Visa requirements.
  • I meet the minimum age requirements of ELI (18 for on-campus programs and 16 for online programs)
  • I agree it is my responsibility to read the student registration documents.
  • I authorize the ELI to release my name and academic records to other UBC departments, home university and/or sponsorship institutions for admissions purposes or for the basis of credit value. I understand that this does not mean I am being considered for admission to another UBC program. I understand I need to submit a separate application to any other programs I am interested in.
  • The University of British Columbia believes that the best possible environment for working, learning and living is one in which respect, civility, diversity, opportunity and inclusion are valued. Everyone at UBC is expected to conduct themselves in a manner that upholds these principles in all communications and interactions with fellow UBC community members and the public in all university-related settings.
